När uppfanns doftljus?
Egyptierna krediteras med att ha tillverkat några av de första onda ljusen så långt tillbaka som 3000 f.Kr., med hjälp av vaxer som skapats från växter och insekter. Doftljus användes dock inte förrän på medeltiden, när bivaxljus fördes till Europa. Bivaxet brann rent och rent (det skapade inte en rökig låga), och det gav en trevlig, söt doft snarare än den obehagliga lukten av talg, som ofta användes i hushållsljus vid den tiden. På grund av den oöverkomliga kostnaden för bivax under medeltiden hade få andra än de rika råd att bränna dem hemma. Det fanns en kort tid i koloniala Amerika när kvinnor använde bayberry för att skapa ett doftande vax, men processen var mycket tråkig. Så, doftljus slutade inte ta fart förrän i mitten av 1800-talet när framsteg hade gjorts inom vax och mekanisering av ljusproduktion.

Doften blir starkare när mer av vaxet smälter, så ju större ditt ljus desto större doft kan du förvänta dig när dess vaxpool sträcker sig till kanterna på kärlet.
